STRONG BRITISH COLUMBIA PRESENCE AT 2004 TORONTO FILM FESTIVAL

Vancouver, British Columbia - British Columbia Film is pleased to confirm another strong contingent of British Columbia films have been selected to screen at this year's Toronto International Film Festival.

The new Canada First! section of the festival includes two British Columbia dramatic feature films, "It's All Gone Pete Tong" directed by Michael Dowse, produced by Elizabeth Yake and "Ill Fated" Mark A. Lewis' directorial debut, produced by Mark Lewis, Andre Garrison and Paul Armstrong.

Velcrow Ripper's feature length documentary ScaredSacred, produced by Cari Green, that journeys to 'ground zeros' around the world has been chosen as part of the Real to Reel cutting edge documentary program. The World Premiere of "The Love Crimes of Gillian Guess", directed by Bruce McDonald, produced by Hugh and Debra Beard of Vancouver's Force Four Productions, is slated as part of the Visions program celebrating works that enter new cinematic territory.

British Columbia Film is proud to have provided development and/or production financing to all four selected features enabling the filmmakers to develop their story ideas and close project financing. All projects will also have access to the provincial film and television tax credit program administered by British Columbia Film.

In addition, the Short Cuts Canada short film collection includes five British Columbia films; Katrin Bowen's "Almost Forgot My Bones", Dylan Akio Smith's "Man Feel Pain", Gail Noonan's "More Sensitive", Alex Levine's "My Old Man" and Matt Sinclair-Foreman's "White Out".

British Columbia Film is a privately administered non-profit society established in 1987 by the provincial government with a mandate to expand and diversify the cultural industries of film and video in British Columbia. The Society acknowledges the financial assistance of the Province of British Columbia through the Ministry of Small Business and Economic Development.
